Drizip is a peer-to-peer car rental platform operating in Chile and Mexico. Car owners list their vehicles and set their own prices, while renters find affordable cars near their location. All rentals are handled through the app: requests, document verification, vehicle check-in, payment, and insurance coverage included.
Founded in 2019 and launched in February 2020, Drizip found immediate traction as the COVID-19 pandemic shut down traditional rental agencies. The platform grew to over 500 vehicles in Chile and expanded to Mexico later that year, reaching cities like Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Cancun, and Cabo San Lucas. Drizip also partnered with Inchcape Retail and ALD Automotive, and in 2021 expanded its model to support ride-hailing and delivery use cases.
I worked full-stack on the platform: backend services with Node.js, Express, and MongoDB, frontend features with React and Next.js, and the AWS infrastructure underneath. The stack also included Meteor for real-time features and TypeScript across the codebase.
